Dear Shrewsbury Borough School Staff members,

The Foundation for Shrewsbury Education (FSE) is pleased to offer the Mini-Grant program for the 2011-2012 school year. All staff members from Shrewsbury Borough School are invited to participate. We are very grateful for the generous support of our annual fundraisers by the community, teachers, staff, parents and local businesses. Because of this support we are able to fund our grant program. This is a great opportunity for teachers to enhance their curriculum with funds otherwise not available. We hope you will take full advantage of this opportunity.

Please download and complete the application form and return to the FSE mailbox in front office.

*Submission deadline: May 16th
*FSE committee review: May 24^th- June 3rd
*Mini-Grant winners notified: June 6th
The Grants must be expended during the 2011-2012 school year.

The Mini-Grant committee will review each application based on the following criteria:

Is the description of the proposed project/activity clear?
Are the needed materials, project objectives, and plans to evaluate the project/activity specified?
What students will benefit from this proposal?
Does this proposal support the curriculum objectives of SBS? Are other schools currently using this program?
Is the request realistic and within budget?

The Mini-Grant program is designed to support innovative projects that enhance the school curriculum and enrich the learning experience for our students.

The Foundation for Shrewsbury Education is excited to offer this opportunity to our Shrewsbury Borough School teachers.

10th Annual Wine Tasting

The funds raised at this year’s Wine Tasting will support another major — and vital — investment in cutting-edge technology. Thank you to all those who attended this year’s event and helped to make it our most successful wine tasting yet.

The Foundation for Shrewsbury Education annual Wine Tasting fundraiser is to benefit the enhancement of technology and education at SBS

This year’s event featured acclaimed red and white wines, a new VIP Prosecco table, an assortment of special beers and fabulous fare all set to the rhythm of a Caribbean steel drum band!

Over the last few years alone, the FSE has spent more than $100,000 to outfit the school with Apple iMac computers for the school’s computer lab, Epson Brightlink interactive projectors for every classroom in grades kindergarten through fifth, as well as interactive Smart Boards for grades six through eighth. The funds raised at this year’s Wine Tasting will support another major — and vital — investment in cutting-edge technology.

Foundation Purchases Epson BrightLink 450Wi

The Foundation has funded the purchase and installation of the BrightLink 450Wi, an intelligent, interactive projector in all classes from K through 5. Grades 6-8 are

already equipped with the Smartboard brand interactive boards, which the Foundation purchased and installed about three years ago.

The BrightLink 450Wi is an intelligent, interactive projector that allows educators to turn any standard whiteboard or smooth wall into an interactive learning area. This innovative classroom tool delivers a cost-effective solution for educators to easily integrate interactive capabilities and eliminates the need to purchase and install dedicated interactive whiteboards (IWB).

Foundation Purchase Smartboards and Apple Macs

25 Apple macs – Major donors at “Unpack the Macs”

The Foundation for Shrewsbury Education celebrated its purchase of 25 Apple macs with major donors at an “Unpack the Macs” event in the Shrewsbury Borough School’s new Apple Lab. The purchase of the computers, which will be used by students in grades K-8, was made possible with funds raised at the Foundation’s annual wine tasting and 5K race, set for October 19 this year

Foundation Installs 10 SmartBoards in School

The Foundation installed 10 Smartboarrds in the middle-school over the summer. A training session was held for the teachers and the all of the boards are in daily use.
